18th August 2011 Windsurfing: The Dip-Felixstowe Wind Direction: ne Wind Stength: 18 mph Surf / Sea State: lumpy Air Temperature: 18 Sea Temperature: 16 Weather: cloudy Max Speed: 27.13 (knots - unless stated otherwise) Distance Covered: 25.62 (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise) Again only two kids to look after today and on a walk up to the library noticed it was breezy :) and the forecast rain had not arrived so got to The Dip/Felixstrowe at eleven !!! This was not the best time to sail really with the tide coming in for a few hours so it was wind with tide and the sea get big as the tide came in :( It was only just windy enough to stay up wind so there was not much oppertunity to sail fast as you just disappeared downwind ,then struggled to get back.After an hour came ashore for tea and cake at the kiosk for £2 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :) Then had another hour beating up to the Deben river mouth and had my best reach back peaking at 27.13 kts. It was nice to be out even if the weather was more like November than August and after watching Guy Cribbs gybing dvd was trying a few things - not that you would notice from my Alpha's !!!! :( only 15 kts but I wasn't travelling fast in a striaght line anyway :( and I got home before it started to rain !!!! :) |
